Don't get me wrong; I really like JServ, BUT...

Will Jakarta be easer to install than JServ? I used JServ as a development
platform, but when it came time to ship a product I ended up translating
the servlets to CGI's (Ugh!), because if I have to expect a potential
webmaster customer to get JServ working before trying my product the
universe
of customers is a LOT smaller. 

Part of the problem is caused by Sun's licensing restrictions; there is
no single package you can download to add JServ to an existing Apache
server.
There's JServ, the JDK, the JSDK...

I don't think JServ will be a widely used platform until we can get to the
point where standard Apache or Linux installs (i.e. RHL)
come with it ready to run.
