Yes the FreeBSD JDK isn't as quick as the Blackdown one. However, both
the TYA and ShuJIT JITs work on FreeBSD, which helps. Also, there's the
option of running a Blackdown JDK under Linux mode. I've done this for
the 1.2.2 JDK (as currently a native FreeBSD version doesn't
exist). http://www.freebsd.org/java has some details.
