I've had this 'ajp12: ping: no reply (-1)' problem also, it's much more
sporatic now, and have a few lingering questions/problems: (history is below)
1. I wrote a little perl program, to display 'netstat | grep 8007 | wc -l'
every 30 seconds. Dividing by two, since each connection needs two
sockets, I find that the connections range from 9 in the middle of the
night to over 60 at peak times. Question: Why don't the number of
connections drop to 0 in the middle of the night?
2. Since making the below changes, after two days of running, I've seen
this error once, at 4AM -- other than that no problems. What could still be
causing this error? And why at 4AM when there's little activity? In fact,
the error and access log files show no activity (last activity: 4:00:46;
next activity: 4:40:57). It's like the server just needed to restart itself?!

(-1) Please make sure that
the wrapper.classpath is pointing to the correct version of ApacheJServ.jar
Any ideas?
Dan
Setup
------
Red Hat 6.1
Blackdown JVM 1.1.8v1
Apache 1.3.12
JServ 1.1
History
--------
1. Changed wrapper.env=THREADS_FLAG=native" in jserv.properties to use
native threads.
2. Changed maxConnections to 100 from 50. My program, which displays
'netstat | grep 8007 | wc -l' showed that the connections would go above 50.
These changes *drastically* improved the situation. I was getting many
errors in mod_jserv.log like this:
