Hi all - I recently ran up against an odd situation while looking
at gnujsp - but it seems more general to jserv (and perhaps apache -
I can't test anything except apache here)
I know apache ('least this version) doesn't allow more than one
handler per page type - but the include seems to skirt this just
enough to maybe provide a possible migration path to more servlet
use on some existing (large) sites.
Anyway - if I have a servlet which doesn't output normal page start/end
tags - and I include that servlet from a base page which uses something
other than the jserv handler - the servlet executes fine but produces
it's output in the correct place - but twice - not interleaved - rather,
one set of output followed immediately by a second full instance of the
servlet output.
This does not happen for other file types (text, html etc.)
It only happens if I use the standard SSI #include syntax (file OR
virtual) - as in ...
<!--#include virtual="/zone/someServlet?abc=whatever" -->
IF, on the other hand, I use the base page handler's include mechanism
instead of normal ssi syntax, only one instance of the servlet's output
is included.
I first noticed this while looking at gnujsp - then for jserv/JSSI
and plain old servlets as well
using apache 1.3.6 with stronghold and neowebscript (like a tcl php) mods
jserv 1.1 (DSO for all -btw)
jsdk 2.0
jssi 1.1.2
gnujsp 1.0.0 (and 1.0.1b1)
Am I missing something fundamental here?
