Guys,

I'm doing the exact same thing.

With this in my zone.properties file:
servlet.DoIt.initArgs=toProperties=d:/program files/apache 
group/apache/any/directory/you/want

And this in my servlet:
...
public void init (ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
                super.init(config);
                toProperties = config.getInitParameter("toProperties");
}
...

I'm able to reach any property file I want.
