**Technical Writer and Document Manager**

**Duties and Responsibilities*
*Document Organization and Management:
*• Research, inventory and organize existing technical documentation
• Define and execute process for indexing documentation across multiple
electronic sources
• Work with engineers to define standard technical documentation formats
• Work with engineers to define standard document management repositories
• Manage user access and permissions for document management repositories
• Create standard templates in document management repositories
• Refactor existing documentation to match standard templates
• Work with engineers to define technical documentation authoring &
review processes
• Manage execution of technical documentation authoring & review
processes, working with project managers to ensure that necessary
documentation tasks are scheduled into product release backlog so
documentation is up to date and usable
• Support and educate engineers regarding documentation best practices

Document Authoring and Editing: *
• Write technical information based on user stories, information from
engineers and hands-on exploration of products
• Proofread, edit and organize technical documentation written by other
authors, including validating appropriate use of standard templates
• Revise documentation to incorporate product releases and enhancements
*Knowledge Skills & Abilities*
*Requirements:*
• 5+ years experience as a technical writer, or 5+ years combined
experience as a software engineer and a technical writer
• Self-starter who takes initiative to define own tasks given high-level
guidance from manager regarding results to be achieved
• Strong time management and task prioritization skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Strong writing and proofreading/editing skills
• Attention to detail
• Experience authoring and managing documentation using collaborative
authoring tools
• Experience learning technical concepts and explaining them using text
and diagrams
• Experience working with teams during software development lifecycle

• Experience authoring and managing documentation using a wiki
• Experience with Agile software development processes
• Experience with Java software development for web sites
• Experience working with remote teams
