java version "1.5.0_08" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_08-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_08-b03, mixed mode)
On a redhat 9 machine, I can get a maximum of 612 threads in tomcat when I start it with -Xmx1500M. Without a -Xmx param I get 3448 threads.
On Redhat enterprixe 4 the problem is not as bad. I get 3536 with -Xmx1024M, 2614 with -Xmx1500M, and 5460 w/o an -Xmx param
