YES, success.

        Sorry to bother you all with the problem but I have now solved the
bloody thing.

        I have the lines


LoadModule jserv_module       libexec/mod_jserv.so

and

AddModule mod_jserv.c

at the top of the respective lists in httpd.conf and because of this
JSSI wouldn't work correctly. Yet other servlets would.
They are now at the bottom of the list, and there they shall stay.

I suppose that shows the dangers of where you place modules.
