What about the javax.media stuff?

They say the time is to the nanosecond precision. I don't know anything
about the jmf package, isn't quite large?
Transformation of observed objects seems to be ok at current resolutions,
but the smoothness of the view transforms really need to get a proper update
every frame for maximum smoothness. Just by adding a (if elapsed time is
zero, assume 20 ms has passed) made a MARKED improvement to the smoothness
of turning and moving the view. And with that hack I am still dropping two
frame on the ground. Without an accurate time, I cannot calculate the delta
change properly. I also bet that particle systems will need the same
resolution.
