I can't remember exactly but SimpleUniverse has 2 methods for attaching and
detaching the BranchGroup that attahces to the Locale.

You'll need to make sure your main BG has the capability ALLOW_DETACH (or
something like that!) specified. When you call this you can modify the
scenegraph before reattaching.

Subject: [JAVA3D] Detach etc

 Hi,
I have recently an application for a geomatics network simulation.
Everything has been working fine until I decided that it would be beneficial
to modify the input parameters. I seem to be running around in circles and
without an example fear that a solution may not be close. I have followed
the standard example method of scene generation, i.e. created from init, and
have declared the branch group as global. Anyhoo, after certain events I
want to regenerate the scene. My questions are:

[a] How can I detach the BranchGroup from the SimpleUniverse and update
the scene?

[b] Can I use removeLocale?

[c] Given that a delete function is not evident (unlike c/c++) is it
sufficient to declare larger or smaller arrays with the same name to
automatically destruct the original?

[d] Is it possible to use the PickTool on objects that are not derived
from geometry and shape3d? For example a stretched sphere?

You'll have to put up with my ignorance I have only been coding in Java
 / Java3d for a couple of weeks.

Neil
