Folks, I've noticed that over the last 3 months or so, there has been quite a sustained series of questions on various forums regarding using Java3D in terrain rendering. That is, the questions frequently express interest in implementations of algorithms like ROAM.
I believe that there is probably significant enough interest to start a separate list to develop Java3D specific techniques in this area. What I am seeking is feedback on interest by developers in this area. I'd be looking for at least 20 positive responses to make the list worthwhile. Public or private replies acceptable. The list would have a tight technical focus on implementing terrain rendering algorithms in Java3D and wouldn't be for general focus stuff like the newsgroup or interest list. However, it would encourage terrain -newbies to ask questions. It would also be about trying to develop a common set of best-practices (hopefully backed up by some code going into the j3d.org code repository too). For those that are familiar worth the VRML-based GeoVRML list, that is what I am thinking about. -- Justin Couch http://www.vlc.com.au/~justin/ Freelance Java Consultant http://www.yumetech.com/ Author, Java 3D FAQ Maintainer http://www.j3d.org/ ------------------------------------------------------------------- "Humanism is dead.
