I'm embarking on a project to write a viewer for 4-dimensional polytopes
(where the polytope is sliced by a 3d plane) and am considering various
navigational interfaces. I have two questions.

1. Does anyone know of any source code which provides behaviors similar
to modern 3d -games where the mouse basically controls the viewing line
(i.e. mathematically it chooses a point on a surrounding sphere) and the
keys W/S provide forward/backward movement and A/D provide strafing
movement?

2. Question #1 reveals my current intention for navigation. Does anyone
have other opinions on this issue? Remember we need to specify 8 degrees
of freedom, 4 for position and 4 for orientation.

Thanks in advance.
