Coming from an IBM'ish background (I've used OS/2 for years) trust me when I
say IBM is not the way to go. Their support services are one-ended. They don't care
about their user's opinions unless you're company having at least 200 employees. I'm
not saying this out of bitterness but because I want to make sure you understand the
realities of IBM: they're a big bloated company which is only used to dealing with 
other
large corporations. From a Java3D-community point of view they'd be the end of us.

        Given Sun's inclination toward entering the gaming market, I believe they have
both the interest and resources to support Java3D going forward if it was more
cost-effective to them.

        Anyway.. sorry for this rant, but it had to be said.
