Well, since you ask... I'd like to see something done for Linux.  The Linux
Java Porting Team (Blackdown) team claims to be near completion of an
initial release of JDK 1.2, but I've never heard them talk about doing
anything with Java 3D (despite being asked several times about it).  Linux
has a reasonable OpenGL-like library, called Mesa, which, one would think,
would be sufficient for actual rendering.  Hardware rendering is currenlty
only available with 3Dfx chipsets, but it looks like more will soon be on
the way.  Any thoughts or suggestions would also be helpful.

P.S. I read on an earlier post that if you want Java 3D on Solaris, Mesa
can't be substituded for Sun's OpenGL.  Is this true, and if so what's
preventing Mesa from being used?  Thanks.
