[sorry for earlier misfire]
So far we've gotten great affirmative response to holding the symposium
in Monterey. Most people prefer calling it Web3D 2000, no one has yet
recommended VRML 2000. No feedback yet on any collisions with the dates.
Two people have privately suggested holding it elsewhere (East Coast or
Hawaii). I'm not opposed to either - especially Oahu! - but logistics
are massive, so NPS won't be offering to host anywhere but here in Monterey.
We know how to make that happen: see the VRML 97 & 98 websites at
http://www.sdsc.edu/vrml97/
http://ece.uwaterloo.ca/vrml98/
Others are welcome to propose holding it elsewhere, but please be specific
about where it might happen and who will do the work. This is an important
decision that should be made by consensus of everyone who cares. We're
willing to serve if you're willing to have it here.
Again, hope to see you in Germany for VRML 99! http://www.c-lab.de/vrml99/
all the best, Don
