I'm curious to know why you feel this way. I'm neither supporting nor
condemning the IGES format. But I'd like to know why you think it is so
bad, or (from anyone else) why it should be supported.

If at all possible stay away from IGES !
The IGES format will go down in history as an example of how not to create

data spec.
