Perhaps someone from Sun can offer a few words on the following...

What's the current prognosis for having out-of-the-box support for
Java 3D in the next generation of Netscape browser? Any hope for IE
ever having it (or is MS still of the "over our dead bodies" mentality
regarding such matters)? Whether Java 3D is out-of-the-box or not,
what measures are being taken to make installing Java 3D (and
presumably the rest of the extensions) a fairly painless user
experience?

These are not idle questions. Answers to such questions will be
crucial in planning for the development of industrial strength 3D
application for the web.
