Not necessarily. I've seen this several times in my career when big acquisitions involving two companies with competing products were involved. The Sun FAQ on the Oracle site states: "The transaction is subject to certain conditions, including Sun stockholder and regulatory approvals, and customary closing conditions. We expect the transaction to close this summer." If the deal doesn't get fully closed with the necessary approvals before JavaOne, the companies must operate in public as if it may not happen.
