OK, so the "conservative/legacy" comment was aimed at IBM's programmer
tools and middleware. I think about everyone would agree with that.
They never really targeted regular every day software developers like
Sun did or Microsoft and Google do.

When I think of IBM, I think of armies of consultants, who are more
concerned with closing deals and satisfying specific client needs
rather than making the best general purpose software tool stacks and
winning developer mindshare.
