There is no ONE community, but many fractions. Just as people will disagree over which IDE, which ORM etc. so will they disagree over the importance of this. I do understand the reactions especially from the most recent part of the community, those who do not have a prior substantial engagement with Sun/Oracle and just want to build great apps for Android. To those this must be down right impossible to understand, as evident by listening to one of the later TWiT podcasts, where btw. they are supposed to get Chris DiBona on later this week.
