I use Listen too, mostly because it's the first thing I tried. Agreed
about the bugs, and the UI is wonky at best, but it does support
listening without downloading, and the screen for a podcast has
whatever summary is attached to it.

What I really wish it had was a way to speed up while listening like
on an iPhonePadPod. According to the Listen issue tracker, this is not
going to be implemented until it's a native feature of the Android OS.
