I find this thread very depressing. Originally this was about Bob Lee's blog post in which he explained why he declined an invitation to serve on the expert group for the Java SE 7 and 8 JSRs. At some point somebody got confused and thought it was about Bob's failure to get elected to the JCP Executive Committee. And then it degenerated into ad hominem attacks on Bob.
As it happens I'm not a big Bob Lee fan -- he's said some remarkably ignorant things about OSGi for example -- but really, what has that or his contribution to Guice and Guava got to do with anything?? Does anybody have anything to say in response to the argument he lays out in his blog post? I for one agree with what he says, the JCP as it currently exists is a sham. Remember: attack the argument, not the arguer.
