Last I heard, that was only true of the US Boy Scouts.  Girl Scouts apparently 
have a very different stance on religion and homosexuality.  This is what I 
heard from reputable sources, but I personally have no direct experience with 
either organization.

My understanding is that most Scout organizations carry a very strong Christian 
bias, including hostility toward other faiths and atheists, along with 
pronounced homophobia and similar bad stuff.

I'd be careful where I send my kids.
