I might suggest that you turn your attention to Android. There are amazing possibilities for someone with a lot of experience with Java, in the Android community. There are a lot of people over there, coming from little or no experience with the kind of community, tools and frameworks with which we are so familiar. The Android community could very much, benefit from our experience.
On the other hand, Android is substantially different from Java. The devices are different, the environment is different, and the constraints are different. At the same time that we have a lot to bring to the Android community, I, at least, find, that many of the things I know are wrong there. It is a wonderful chance to get shaken out of your comfort zone, a bit, and take a hike on a new learning curve. Android: the new desktop Java.
