My 'owner' address doesn't work either, but for the longest time, I thought maybe I had done something wrong when setting up the group initially. It's good to know that the error wasn't on my end. Personally, I wouldn't blame you if you did decide to use your server for the list. You're very right when you say that complaining to google groups wouldn't do any good. I will say, though, that I've had my court reporters group since January, and, for the most part, it works wonderfully. If running the list on your server would make moderating it easier, or if you could get problems resolved more quickly by running it there, then perhaps that's the best solution.
