No they are there--the icons I mean, but I did something to Jaws so it no
longer reads links in a links list, and no longer says the name of the
desktop program like my documents, my computer automatically, though it will
if I use say current line.
But not if I just press the letter.
Sharon who says thanks.

It sounds very much like you or someone using your computer have somehow set
desktop properties to show desktop icons off.

To check or rectify this in XP , not sure about Vista, you need to;

1. Press Windows key plus D to go to the Desktop.
2. Press Application Key to bring up the desktop context menu.
3. The first option is Arrange Icons - press enter to go to the sub menu.
4. Cursor down until you hear "show desktop icons". If Jaws says this is
unchecked then this is your problem.
5. Press enter to check this option and hopefully your items will appear.

To check that they are really there you can also

Press windows key plus E to open Explorer.
Press Home to go to Desktop
Press Tab once and you should be in a folder view of the Desktop.

Let us know if this is the problem.

Regards

David Griffith

What did I do wrong? All of a sudden no desktop items will read. No hurry,
it's Christmas, and Merry Christmas, but if someone knows quickly it would
help.
Thanks.
