Hi Tim,

You don't have to view folders in web view for it to work, as the alt+left
and right arrow keys are keyboard shortcuts for the back and forward buttons
on the toolbar. This is also a Windows shortcut key, not Jaws specific.

If you don't believe me, press alt+V to go to the view menu, then arrow down
to the option called go to, which is a sub-menu.

In that sub-menu are the options to go back and to go forward, which are the
alt+left and right arrows respectively.

This is equivalent to pressing the back and forward buttons on the toolbar
that a sighted person would see just below the file menu.

If you are on the sixty-fifth folder down in the list, and you enter on it,
only to find that it's not the folder you wanted, pressing alt+left arrow
takes you back to the sixty-fifth folder in the list.

Likewise, if you come out of the sixty-fifth folder, only to see that you've
forgotten to check something, you can press the right arrow to go back into
the folder, and land on the last file you looked at or had highlighted.

As has been stated, some programs interfere with this function, and, in some
cases, improper configuration of settings on the computer in question will
also interfere with this function.

I was going over someone's computer settings the other day, and once we had
finished configuring her system to work optimally with Jaws, she found that
her alt+left and right arrows functioned again, after not functioning for
the longest time.

Hope this helps.

Victor
