I did all that and I see it on the system tray but it says no action needed rather than pc protected. Better anyway. Thanks.

I have the creators update, and my status of my Window’s Defender does not show 
in my system tray either. I have wondered this myself, and just have not gotten 
around to asking about it. This is a great question. It must have something to 
do with the fact that Defender is now a security center, but I do not know why 
it does not show up in our system trays though. I hope that someone can answer 
this.
