I just got it. Here is what I did. While on my list of messages in my in box, I pressed the control, shift, and the letter P. This brought up the search unread. I pressed the tab and it took me to a list of the email accounts for you to choose from; when I got to the one that I wanted I pressed the tab again and then pressed the space bar and it was created under that account.

Here you're taken through the two-or-three step process to create an "Unread" folder. This folder automatically collects all unread messages. Once I created the Unread folder, I couldn't go back.
