Thus: Alt-n for insert N, u to go to the page number location area Select either top or bottom and press enter Select 1, 2 or 3 for left, middle or right, press enter. And the dialog disappears. In any event, I've confirmed that, thanks to you and other listers, I finally got my default document the way I want. A note on JAWS' ability to confirm that page numbering is in effect. Here, the commands are alt-v for view, h for headers. You then arrow down through the document. No text is read unless you have text in the headers. Right now, JAWS says only header and footer for my first page, with no other indication that nothing is there. For the second page, where my page numbering starts at 2, the footer shows 2 for page number. It may seem obvious the way I'm explaining this, but it isn't when you go through the process. Before, when my page numbering had an error, thanks to my setting page 1 suppression before page numbering, JAWS gave me information. Hi Adrian, This can be done on the Page Number Format dialog box; there's not set by default in any built-in style. There you can specify wetter to continue from the current section or where to start numbering. It is not so clear in the dialog (I'd have to see the help), but I supose the Start From radio button enables you to type the section number in which pages start to be numbered. Section breaks are introduced in the Breaks option on the Page Layout tab. Anyway, since you have Word 2010, unless you need full compatibility with prior versions, you can insert the first page as a cober instead, which also simplifies visual inclusion of properties like document authors or dinamic dates.
