Hi, Laura. I also had to figure out this technology mostly by myself, but with a great deal of help from people on this and other lists. There are many others here in our situation. Gerald gave you the right advice. To help clarify things, Adobe tends to put its PDF reader on the desktop, where it's labeled "acrobat" on my system. No mention of Adobe, even though it's an Adobe product.
Adobe Flash is made by the same company but has nothing to do with its PDF reader. Instead, it's about sound and videos. So, go to your desktop with either Windows key+d or Windows key+m. then press the letter a until, I hope, you hear Acrobat. Assuming you do, press enter. The Adobe Acrobat Reader will open. Then follow Gerald's directions. It should make a big difference. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Laura Richardson Sent: Sunday, November 26, 2017 11:23 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Web site message Thank you for the tips. Hopefully I'll be able to access and read the information on the web site. I really don't know how to download and access that once it's on my computer. I believe I have Adobe Flash but have no clue how to use it and read PDF documents. I'm feeling quite overwhelmed and am trying to learn how to do these types of things on my own as I have no help or guidance. If your PDF documents are being read by Acrobat Reader PC or Adobe Reader, you should uncheck the box in the Accessibility Set Up Assistant labeled, "Open PDF documents in the web browser", which may be checked by default. To do this, launch Acrobat Reader, go to the Edit menu and scroll all the way down to the Accessibility submenu. Select Set up Assistant, and on the fifth and final page of the Assistant, tab to this check box and uncheck it. Opening PDF documents in the browser can sometimes cause problems with JAWS or the browser itself. For what I've experienced, you do have to close down the internet in those situations. What I do is use control enter to open those up, so I goes to anotuerh window. Then, if you want to cloe it, you can just close that window without losing the internet. Remember to hit control tab to go to the other window you opened. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Laura Richardson Sent: Sunday, November 26, 2017 2:14 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Web site message Hello, When I went to a web site I got the following message: Infer reading order from document (recommended) Left- to - right top - to - bottom reading order Use reading order in raw print stream There is nothing to click on ..
