Steve, I realize my question sounded silly, but the Pearl is characterized as 
"portable." I suppose portable means you can shift it around your desk, but 
that's a more limited definition than I have in my head, which is something 
like "carryable," as in take it on trips out. But thanks for clarifying.

Um, you can't take a photo with the Perl camera if you're away from your Pc. 
The Perl connects via a USB cable that is about 36 inches long.
