Laura:
I just got off the phone with them, and it was, indeed, a virus. They talked me through the steps for removal, and all I had to do was press enter on the remove button. Simple enough! Thanks to all of you for your suggestions/recommendations.

I don't know with defender. It appears that you have a virus. If you really not comfortable removing it your self I suggest calling the Microsoft accessibility line. I am sure they can help and insure your machine is clean. Unfortunately I don't have their number at hand but I am sure others on the list can provide the number.

I am pretty sure it is coming from Defender. When I open it up, I find the following message:
Trojan: win 32/dittertag.b severe 2/1/2018

and I can arrow to the right of the message and find a restore button, and a remove button.

What information? Are you sure it's actually coming from the Windows Defender programme? Because what you deescribed earlier definitely sounded like a fishing scam.

What's Defender telling you?

Follow Up on the previous message. I found out how to get the information.
It was in Windows Defender. Now, my question has changed. How do I quarantine a virus in Defender? Thanks.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Virus Warning

Morning all.
Using Jaws 2018 and Windows 10 on a dell laptop, has anyone ever gotten a message from “Microsoft” stating something about a virus? The voice on the message was feminine, and British. And it gave a toll free number to call, or it will disable my laptop. It said something about sending my information to an unknown IP address. Unfortunately, mornings for us are at best hectic and I was not able to determine whether it was credible or not. I also would like to know of there is a way to get previous notifications regarding issues such as this. Thanks in advance Jerry For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit:
