Correction. Where I wrote "preferences," I meant "properties." As others have since explained, to create a shortcut for loading JAWS, place focus on the desktop icon for the JAWS version you're using, then press alt-enter to open properties, then tab two or three times. If you want your shortcut to be control-alt-8, for example, simply press 8 in the edit field of that dialog. Then tab to and press spacebar on the Okay button.

I'm asking because I'm an amateur radio operator (ham) and use an interface with a radio that when plugged into my PC, takes all the sound away, including JAWS. At that point, I need to restart JAWS, but see no keyboard shortcut to do this. Thoughts?
