Al, I've been getting the number of emails and unread messages in the status bar (insert-pagedown) for as long as I've had Outlook. As far as receiving and sending, I find it varies. When I suspect there's been a long delay, sometimes closing and reopening Outlook seems to stimulate it into wakefulness again. As for messages reaching this list, once in a while my post arrives almost immediately, but usually it takes a while, even an hour or more. I believe the list's moderators have talked about this, and it's undoubtedly a function of ISP servers.
Dave's response to your query adds a new wrinkle. I realize this doesn't directly address the problems you've only recently experienced, but maybe it puts them in context. By the way, is there really an Outlook 14? Could this new addition of Send/Receive cause the problem in my Outlook becoming so sluggish? I do not know what I may have pressed to cause this problem. Can anyone give me a detailed fix to avoid this sluggish Outlook problem? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
