Thank you, Fernando, for recognizing the problem I was trying to describe in my two recent posts, after I'd done a poor job with the first.
As you suggest, a shift-tab followed by tab brings focus to the URL edit line. Turning off the virtual cursor does the same thing. Either one is an extra step compared to IE11, but a minor inconvenience. That said, I wonder if the new tab screen can be simplified. I don't see how to delete some of the information presented there. Yes, I could delete some of the websites Firefox has picked up from previous searches, but it's useful to type in just the first few letters when I want them. However, why Firefox feels compelled to list them when IE11 doesn't is beyond me. Before I get to the list of websites on this screen, I'm confronted with a slew of useless verbiage that I'd love to remove. I'll close this post with a copy of that part of the screen: New Tab NEW TAB CONTROLS Show your top sites Include suggested sites Show blank page Learn about New Tab Thumbnail removed. Undo. If it reads about:newtab, it is likely that JAWS turned virtual cursor on even when focus is on the address bar, so press SHIFT+TAB and then TAB again to see if focus is properly set to the address bar. If the address bar have another URL, a program on your computer changed Firefox (and probably other browsers as well) settings such as new tab URL, home page and default search engine to show you ads. In this case, you should delete any unwanted toolbar or other extensions and then reset these Firefox settings. Hope it helps! -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List <jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com> On Behalf Of Adrian Spratt Sent: Sunday, April 8, 2018 6:26 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Opening a second window in Firefox Thanks, Jim. That's the answer to the question I asked. But now, when I open a new tab, instead of getting just a edit field for the URL, I get a lot of information through which I need to arrow up and down. Is that your experience, too? -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List <jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com> On Behalf Of Jim Pursley Sent: Sunday, April 08, 2018 4:33 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Opening a second window in Firefox Hi, Adrian.
