Michael, I've done basically the same thing, and I thought at first the problem was solved. I can access the AVG interface and read the status information. I can go into some of the menus successfully, but it sometimes still crashes. It crashed when I tried to change firewall settings, and, while typing this message I stopped and went to the AVG interface, brought up the components menu, arrowed down to E-mail scanner, opened it successfully, then changed nothing but went to Save Settings and hit the spacebar. Bang, it crashed again. I wonder if yours will do the same thing. Here is how the events unfolded: I talked to someone at FS this afternoon regarding my continued problems with AVG 8.0 and JAWS. I was told to download a fresh copy of the JAWS 9.0.2169 file directly from the website; the man I talked to said that my update probably did not complete propperly. He instructed me to save the file to the desktop and then run it and go to repair instalation. We got confirmation that my update had not downloaded propperly when I was unable to proceed with the install wizard because another version of JAWS was already installed. The man directed me to uninstall JAWS and install JAWS 9.0.2169. I no longer have problems with JAWS and AVG. One thing to note is that regardless of whether you are able to repair the existing instalation of JAWS or you have to reinstall like I did, you must remove/overwrite all existing user settings.
