situation to correct itself after trying so hard I didn't reconsider it

I am using ms word 2003. I have created a file of various articles from
newspapers in order to read them later. However, when I try to separate
the
articles with **** symbol, soon as I finish typing the symbols and hit the
enter key the *** symbols get erased. I've unchecked several items in the
spelling and grammar tab and "typing replaces selection in the edit tab,
closed the document but the problem still exists.
