Hello Kimber;
well? the good news is?
your done. the steps you have implemented, should make your access to
Avast much better.
now, as was mentioned in a previous message, maybe, your avast updated,
when you did the install.
as I indicated, I don't use avast, but, I would assume, your program is
updated. again, you can update the program manually if you wish.

Well I did it, but it didn't say ok or comfirmation and when I pressed
control S, it didn't say anything, but I went back and checked it, and
it's all done I think. Is there anything else now I should do, so I can
hear it telling me that it's going to update or has been updated? whew
what a brain drain at this early hour of a Wednesday morning.

Hi Kimber;
I assume this is what your referring?
Configuring JAWS to read lists in Avast:
1. Make sure that you're focused on the Avast Simple User Interface.
2. Press JAWS key 6 to open Configuration Manager.
3. Press enter to accept the New Configuration File dialogue box.
4. Press alt s to open the set options menu, then press a. The advanced
Options dialogue box appears.
5. Shift tab till you hear, "Rely on MSAA for List Views check box not
checked". Press space to check it.
6. Press enter to activate the ok button.
7. Either press control s to save your configuration file immediately,
or press alt F4, pressing enter to activate the yes button on the
confirm dialogue box.
again, the jaws key is the insert key, which is found on the number pad,
which is the zero, with the numlock key on.

Hello Kimber;
did you wait until the memory test was complete? and then close the
web-page?
now, you should be able to use the applications key, and arrow to
settings and press enter.
Tab until you hear, "enable skins for simple user interface check box
checked". Press spacebar to uncheck it.
now tab ok, press enter.
now, close avast, and re-start the program.

Good morning. I am in a bit of trouble here. I can't find where to
start avast, do I go into the system tray? if so, I tried that, but
then jaws went to the simple interface, and that's where it stopped
talking. i did what you said or the scripts said to use the
application key and find the settings, but I couldn't find where to
uncheck the skins. Your help would be much appreciated and sorry if I
keep coming back, but I'm not used to avast, and I don't want to go
back to AVG as it's definitely not jaws friendly. thanks.

Good morning Kimber!
I'm not using Avast, however, I believe the default is, to have
Avast update automatically.
you could also update manually, if you wanted.
also, I'm not sure if your aware, there is some helpful tips on the
jaws-users program page, to make avast a little more jaws friendly.

hi kimber
since the avast version you downloaded my be the current version
all available updates may have already come with it. so it may be
a while for the next update (it usually updatesdaily) before the
next one takes place. or you may have just missed the
announcement, while you stepped away from the pc or something. so
no worry updates will come :9

chrissy
