Thanks, I do generally play around with a few options and pick what sounds best to me. I was just hoping there was a way to get the accent on the correct sylable, not just in this case, but with a bunch of other words I've added to the dictionary manager. Eloquence is the only synthisizer I have. Overall, this is a pretty minor thing, I know. Thanks to all, Shari ----- Original Message ----- From: "Flor Lynch" <florl...@iol.ie>

How about HullaBaLooo? That sounds nearly ok with Eloquence (but
distorts my Apollo 2, which pronounces the original and correctly
spelled hullabaloo properly). You can ad in an extra l to make a
HullaBaLlooo!

This time the word is hullabaloo. As Mike had mentioned in another
message
on this question, I have tried several different spellings and settled
on
hulla ba Lu - an improvement, but...

What word are you wanting to change?
You may find the correct symbol by doing an insert 4 at the cursor
point
of where you want that symbol inserted.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Dictionary Manager question

Hi All, Is there a way in dictionary manager to indicate which
sylable in
a word should be accented? Sometimes when I change how eloquence
pronounces a word, it still doesn't sound quite right because the
accent
is on the wrong sylable. I try things like adding a space between
sylables. Sometimes that helps; sometimes it doesn't. I'm using Jaws
10
with Vista, although I've had this same question with earlier
versions of
Jaws and operating systems. Thanks - Shari
