However, there are forms (on some Web pages and applications) where a radiobutton has been checked automatically unless you change it (move) to another radiobutton.

Just for a little history, Radio buttons got their name from the old mechanical car radios. These radios had buttons that would be depressed to select a station and all of the other buttons would be forced out mechanically. Radio buttons on a computer, are represented by a small circle normally to the left of each option. The list of options are normally listed vertically, but can also be listed horizontally. Only one option can be selected. The web page or application will automatically deselect all other options in that group when one is selected. It is like a multi choice test. One of the choices is typically required. Unlike the old radios, these radio buttons evolved where originally selected so their is no default defined, and thus a biased outcome.

Not quite correct. There Aare also radiobuttons ANY OF which remain unchecked even when you have your cursor over one, until you single-click it or press spacebar on it TO CHANGE THE STATE. usuially, radiobuttons are in a group from which one must be chosen. They are in any case either/or. A button may be a Go button or an enter button, much as you indicate. jaws DISTINGUISHES BETWEEN THE TWO TYPES - AS R FOR RADIOBUTTON AND B FOR BUTTON, in virtual cursor mode.

Try this on for size, keep in mind this is what you might
call educated conjecture.
A radio button is checked when your cursor lands on it and
you simply hit the spacebar to activate it. A standard
button allows you access to a new screen.
The best example I can come up with is when logging into my
bank account, after entering user name and password I am
presented with a single log in button.
In another screen I am presented with a series of radio
buttons that will ask credit, debit, savings, checking, well
you get the idea, only one of these buttons in the list can
be highlighted and pressed at a time.

What is the difference between a radio button and a button?
I thought those were the same?
