Hi Alan,
There are tutorials on Windows automatic updates on both:
www.blind-computing.com
and
www.jaws-users.com
If you set up automatic updates correctly, you can choose which updates to
install.
Security updates should always be installed, and can always be un-installed
if there seems to be some conflict.
On quite a few different machines over a 9 year period,
I have never really experienced a problem resulting from a Windows update.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Hello Friends,
I have not allowed my "Automatic Updates " to continue for a few months,
since I read about the I. E. 7 situation, as I only have JAWS 9.0156 on my
XP-Home machine!

I am not worried so much about "Security", as I am about downloading
something in the Windows Updates that will mess up a perfectly working
system, my thinking, is of course:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

And as I said things are just working so perfectly, two (2) T-Drives,
fantastic sound system, no problems with JAWS or anything!

Can anyone tell me why I should allow the updates, and if so, what should I
be weary of?

I do not want to update to JAWS 10 nor 11 at this time, and JAWS 9 is
working fine, but will any of the current updates mess up JAWS 9.0156?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide me in the way of information!

With Best Regards,
Alan
