I understand, but I don't think it's strictly an xp issue. I thought it was more or less what anti virus program you were running. I know it just stays there very briefly and then it's gone, so wondering why it should matter to you if it's there or not? I guess you could look at it this way, if you didn't have the alert sound on when new emails arrived, then the notification in the sys tray would tell ya you had new mail.

Hi Patricia,

Thank you for your response. I'm pretty sure that everybody running XP
probably gets this message, but out of curiosity I was just wondering if
there was a way to keep this message from showing up in the system tray.
Thanks again, take care.
Mike

Hi All,

Whenever I get new Email there is a notice in the system tray that reads "
you have new Email ". Is there a way to turn this feature off/keep this
from showing up in the system tray? I am running XPSP3 home & Jaws 10/11
latest. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, take
care.
Mike
