I have not installed the latest version of total recorder but I had similar
issues with the screen reader being voiced in prior versions after pressing
record. The only thing I could do was uninstall and reinstall which seemed
to fix the problem. A temporary work around if you don't want to
uninstall/reinstall, is to create a hot key to silence speech while in an
application. I have to use this fix with GoldWave if I don't want Jaws
talking when I press record. I would like to know did you see advantages to
upgrading from v7 to v8?

Vista and later; you can't use the user mode virtual device driver that
comes with the program.

I just installed total recorder on my lap top. I already had it on my
desk top. On my desk top, I do not hear jaws, any time it says anything
while total recorder is recording, but that isn't the case with it on my
lap top. From the time I press record, if jaws says one word, it comes
through on my recording.
I don't know what I did differently except that I have total recorder on
my desk top since 2004, and just installed it on my lap top yesterday.
My lap top is running windows vista home premium and jaws 11. Any
suggestion would be appreciated.
