Hi Patti, I am not using Live Mail but I am quite sure that the program has the capability to export to a Windows comma separated value file. CSV files can be used for importing, exporting and reading by several different programs. If you can get back into your Live mail program then check to see if there is an export/import choice in a file menu or other menu. Choose to export only addresses. If you can export as a CSV file then you can save the file in your document folder, on the desktop, etc. and Use the import choice in the file menu of Outlook. You would choose to import from a CSV file, browse to its location and start the import process. Again though, I don't use Live Mail so I am not sure of the exporting capabilities. If the address book is on line then quite often in the online options there will be a choice to export to Outlook.
In regards to creating a new folder for JAWS users, I am not sure if you are wanting to create a distribution list in contacts, an entirely new address book or if you want an Email folder to move messages to. If you want to create a distribution list, (group in Outlook Express): 1. first move into contacts and then use CTRL+shift+L. (The new distribution list choice is also in the new submenu under the file menu). 2. Give the distribution list a name in the edit box where focus will be after choosing to create a new distribution list. 3. Use tab key and you will find the “select members” button. If you want to use the contacts or a different address book to select members use spacebar on that button. 4. If you want to just add a new name to the distribution list then instead of selecting the “select members” button just tab to the “add new” button and press spacebar. If you use the manual method to add new members then you can tab to a list where the names you add are listed. If you use the “select names” button then focus will go to where your list of names are shown and you can add the names you want to your list. 5. After depressing the “select members” button Press shift+tab to move to the “show names from” combo box and use up or down arrow to make choices. This combo box determines which list of names is shown in this dialog box. 6. In the list of names use navigational commands to move to the names you want, tab to the button that will say “members dash greater button” and use spacebar on that button. You can then tab to check the list as it is created. Names will be divided in the new list by semicolons and spaces. When finished building the list tab to the OK button and press enter key. 7. When focus goes back into the dialog box that has the “select members” and “add new” buttons there is also a remove button that you can use after tabbing to the list and selecting a name. In that same dialog box is an update now button that you should use. Alt+W will depress that button. 8. Use CTRL+S to save the distribution list and then Alt+f4. The new distribution list will be in the list of contacts or address book (whichever you chose) With the name you gave it when creating the distribution list. I think the above answers what you were asking, but if you meant something different then let me know. I wasn’t sure if you meant create a distribution list, an entirely separate address book or a folder to move messages to that come in from JAWS users. Take care. I hope you can get this working right. I got into the address book, and I had to put the emails in one at a time. I have all my email address from my other computer on here, but when I imported it went to the live mail address book, and I can't get them to come in here. Do you know how to make another address folder, because I want to make one called Jaws users? Thanks again for all your help. Patti Hi Patty, When you use CTRL+3 to move into your contacts try using tab key to move to a tree view where "contacts" is announced. Unfortunately, I am not at a system with Outlook 2003 like I was earlier, but if I remember correctly then there will be a tree or folder view and you should hear "contacts" spoken. Use up or down arrow keys at this point and find out if you have either an additional contacts folder or a folder called "address book." If so then after moving to the additional folder use tab key to the list and check to see if your contacts and addresses are in that folder. Be sure also to have either the address card view or the detailed address card view chosen in the view menu. You said that you just started using Outlook. Did you use the import function to bring your addresses into contacts? If not then you might need to export them from the other system to a comma separated value file or another type that you can import into Outlook, and then import them. If you have exported them then while in the contacts part of Outlook you can use the import choice in the file menu. Let me know how it goes for you. Take care. I got the size off. I couldn't see who is in my address book. I did ctrl 3, and it said contacts, but when I arrow down it said view cards checked. I tried to arrow down, but it did nothing. I couldn't get out of there. I know I have some contacts, because when I open up an email to send off I can do the first letter of a name, and it is in there. All you said to do about the links didn't work. Do you have any more things for me to try? Patti Hello Patti, I am using Outlook 2007, which is actually Outlook 12. However, I am quite sure the steps for performing the functions you asked about are the same if you use Outlook 11. How do I make the link in an email work? You can list links using insert with F7 and press enter on the link you want to activate. If that doesn't work you can try tabbing to the link and pressing enter key. If those methods don't work you should move the cursor directly on to the link, press application key and arrow down to the "open link" choice. Press enter on that choice. How do I shut off the size of an email? 1. Press Alt+V to bring up the view menu. 2. Use down arrow to the arrange by choice and use right arrow into the submenu. 3. In Word 2007 the menu choice for "custom" is in that submenu. Again, not being at a system with Outlook 11 on it I don't remember if the "custom" choice is in that submenu or in the current view submenu. If it is not in the submenu of "arrange by" then use right arrow at the "current view" choice and check its submenu for the "custom" choice. Press enter key to bring up the "custom" dialog. 4. Press spacebar on the "fields" button. 5. Use tab key a few times and you will find a list box of available items. Continue to use tab key until you find the "show these fields in this order" list. 6. Use down arrow key until you select the "received" choice. 7. Use shift+tab to the "remove" button and press spacebar. This will put the "received" item back into the "available fields" list. 8. Use tab key to the OK button and press spacebar. Continue to use OK if necessary to close dialog boxes. The location of the controls might be slightly different with Outlook 11 but you should find them quite easily. How do I see who is in my address book? In Outlook you can use CTRL+3 to move directly into your "contacts" list. Outlook uses "contacts" as your main address book. Use the keystroke when focus is in a list of messages in an open folder. Let me know if the above steps are not the same for your version of Outlook, and if that is the case I'll check a system at work tomorrow that has the earlier version of Outlook installed. Take care.
