Hi Larry,
All I know is thatwhen I attempted openning a document once I got that
display of 72 options as you described earlier, I determined I was using the
wrong application. Perhaps the file you received is an immage document? In
that case the document might need to be scan and than converted. I am only
guessing here. If you hold on long enough one of these talented listers will
come to the rescue.
stay well

Lawrence,
The file name has a .doc extension. I even tried to open it
as a text document to no avail.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Word Document Conversion
Hi Folks,
I recently received a sample business plan as an
attachment. When I
went to open it I was presented with a list box of some 72
choices
ranging from Western European windows to Arabic something
or other.
I chose the windows default radio button and when I opened
the document I found a completely nonsensical series of
disassociated letters, symbols and random punctuation.
Any ideas on what is going on and how I might fix it?
I am running Jaws 9.latest, Windows XP Pro and Word XP.
TNX
Larry
