Hi. Yes, there used to be a way of doing this, but they changed the interface in avast 5. there maybe a skins option somewhere still, but i haven't found it yet, i'll keep the list posted if i do find one. The only thing you are able to do is turn off graphical affects which may help, that's in the general section of settings, i've got mine turned on though and it appears to work fine.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Avast 5.94 now fully accessible!

Hi All.

Thanks to roger for tipping me off about this! Avast 5.0.594 now seems to be fully accessible with screen readers. progress bars are now spoken, as well as all of the interface. scans are now read out in realtime as they should be, providing the user with information you'd probably have had to use the jaws curser for. pressing tab and shift tab seems to be sufficient to navigate, in other words using standard navigational keystrokes gets you to the information you want to reach. the only flaw i've noticed is the settings dialogue, for screen reader users its read out correctly, but the tabs aren't immediately noticeable. you have to press space on the settings button, then tab, then shift tab until jaws doesn't say anything when shift tab is pressed e.g tab, gaming mode. shift tab, gaming mode settings. shift tab. when jaws says shift tab only, scrole up twice with the arrows and this should get you to where the tabs are, from there you have access to over 10 different tabs to finely customize avast settings including the look, sounds, scans, etc.

feeling brave? most of you will already have the opportunity to update via the program interface its self, rightclick your avast icon, click on update, then program update. but for those of you that have not got it installed or don't want to use the system tray method, here's a download link to the free anti virus program. it is not necissary to install the chrome web browser, so click no when you are asked to install.

Thanks all for reading.
