Hi Mo,
To join the Windows 7 list send a blank message to blindwindows7-subscr...@yahoogroups.com. Now, from what I understand, XP Mode comes with a set of tools and drivers so that it runs better with Virtual PC and provides automatic logging onto the guest operating system. The other thing it does is to behave as if it's running in a terminal (remote desktop) session. It is this behaviour that is confusing JAWS and thus you cannot currently run JAWS in XP Mode, unless you use some other XP Mode implementation like there is in VMWare.
Hope this helps.

Hi Chris.
A couple of questions. firstly, do you have any more details on the
windows7 list how to subscribe etc?
Secondly, what do you mean by terminal session? Virtual PC is just
running XP in a virtual environment much as VMWare would surely? or is
XP being directly controled by windows 7 i.e you're still using windows
7 but with the xp backend? i hope this makes sense i just didn't
understand your terminology, virtual terminal verses terminal...
Mo.

Hi,
This has been discussed on the Windows 7 list. Unfortunately, it is
not possible to use JAWS in a Windows XP mode environment. Virtual PC
creates a terminal session by default, and JAWS doesn't understand
that it's not actually a terminal session; rather a "virtual" terminal
session created by Virtual PC. As a result JAWS thinks you're trying
to run it in a terminal session, and therefore will not work and
instead display an error message and quits. For the record, other
screen readers work, but this is outside the scopes of this list.
Sorry about that.

Hello,

Wondered if anyone has been able to successfully use Jaws 11 in
Windows XP
mode in Windows 7 to access or use earlier programs that aren't or

If so are there any special settings needed in order to successfully use
Jaws in the Windows XP compatible mode in Windows 7?

Thanks.
