If you are working in print layout view in word 2007, you should still be
able to use down arrow key when on the last line of a page to move to the
next page. If the cursor is on the last character on a page, using right
arrow key should also be moving focus to the next page. If the cursor is
at
the top of a page, the up arrow key should be moving the cursor to the
bottom of the previous page. If the cursor is in the first character
position on a page then the left arrow key should move the cursor to the
last character position on the previous page. This behavior has not
changed
and should be working if you are using print layout view in Word 2007.
If you are using the page layout mode in Word 2007, the right and left
arrow
keys and the up and down arrow keys should be switching pages. You can
click on the screen and use arrow keys for their normal functions, but
unless you do that you should be moving a page at a time with right arrow
and down arrow keys moving toward the bottom of the document, and focus
should move back toward the top of the document a page at a time when
using
up or left arrow keys. JAWS should speak the page numbers as you use the
arrow keys in this layout. In Word 2007, if you use the full screen
choice
for viewing, the system starts using the page layout mode. JAWS does not
work well in this view, but if you have some sight to use when reading the
screen then you might like that mode as you can just use arrow keys to
move
between screens or pages of information. When working in the page layout
mode there is no status bar showing at the bottom of the screen, and there
is no ribbon at the top of the screen. You can still read the one line of
status type information at the top of the window by moving to the status
bar
using function key 6. Using right and left arrow keys on the status line
will move between choices. One of the choices is "view options." The
default setting for this mode is to show a page at a time. In the default
mode, you can use arrow keys to move a page at a time. The very top line
of
the window will contain a "view options" button that when clicked will
give
a menu of choices. You can choose to view two pages at a time, increase
or
decrease text size, show the printed page, and make other choices. If you
choose to use two pages at a time, JAWS will jump two pages at a time when
using the arrow keys. The top line of the screen will also show pages 1-2
of so many, 2-3 of so many, etc. Again, this view is a full screen
reading
view and enables focus to be moved one or two pages at a time by simply
using arrow keys, but it is not the best view to work in if you are
depending on JAWS for getting information and you are unable to use your
sight for reading the screen. The Alt+delete key combination will still
let
you know the page that is active. You can press escape key to leave the
screen layout mode. There is not a Word hotkey for page layout mode but
you
can easily add one if you want to use that view.
The print preview option is different than the print layout view. One
difference is that the zoom level goes to 50 percent in print preview.

Thank you for this information.Yes, I did realize that you had typed
control
page up and control page down for moving from page to page. This is one of
the ways I had found to move from page to page and then I also have found
that in print preview you can go to the end of the page, press the end key
and then right arrow and this will also take you to the next page. More
steps involved but if not in a hurry I sometimes use this. I especially
liked the function in MS Word 2003 where when you were at the end of the
page you could just press your down arrow to get to the next page. The
down
arrow alone was a lot simpler method but since I was having to use the
control page up and down to get to the previous or next page I thought it
might be a setting that i had inadvertently changed. However, I guess as
programs evolve we should be ready to change our methods for performing a
certain task as well. Thank you for reassuring that I had seen the control
page up and down though.

Thank you, I thought it was a problem with my Jaws or Microsoft Word. I
think using Jaws 9 and MSW 2003 I could just down arrow from page to
page.

command
or navigating using certain other elements then those controls will not
move
by page. For example, if you have used the find command then the
CTRL+page
down will find the next occurrence of your search string. You can use
CTRL+G, shift+tab to the go to box and pick page and then type a page
number
in the edit box. When you use the go to button, focus should go to that
page. Your CTRL+page up or CTRL+page down will return to moving by
page.
This works best in the print view. Use the CTRL+Alt+P to switch into
print
view. The problem with the outline view is that it is for a person to
view
a document using different levels of viewing. A person can choose to
view
by heading 1, 2, etc., and keystrokes such as the tab key work
differently
in that view. If only certain levels of headings are chosen to be
viewed
then you can easily jump past pages. There could be three, four or more
pages between the headings being viewed and so pages between those
headings
will not be viewed. Again, the best view is really the print view. The
CTRL+page up, CTRL+page down and the "go to" part of the find dialog
should
work for you.

I am using Microsoft Word 2007 with Jaws 10 on a Dell Inspiron 1545
Operating System (OS) XP Pro. Now that is out of the way the problem I
am
having is Jaws only seems to want to read in the Print Preview mode/
outline
view. The reason this is a problem is if there is a lot of pages
involved
then Jaws tends to want to skip pages and has trouble transitioning from
one
page to another one. I usually have to go to the end of the page and
press
the end key after that I have to do a right arrow to get to the next
page.
Is there a more compatible view that Jaws will read in? I have tried the
draft view with no luck if it is in the full view then it does not read
either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
