Rick,
Like you when I first started windows 7 I did not like that. Now I think it
is the best thing since sliced bread. For example if I wanted to defrag I
use to have to go to accessories, system tools and defrag. now just type def
and hit enter. Type e and enter and internet explorer is launched. I can
also just arrow down and the rest of start menu is available.

I am not new to computers, and I doubt that it is quicker.
Thanks for the input.

I don't doubt that the search box can be useful,
but I can, be where I need to be using a shortcut , in less time than it
takes to type a search string.
Just my opinion. smile

I would like to add that the search bar Dan mentioned is, as he said,
extremely useful. Not only can you type your program, but also web
url's,
document tittles, even search for particular emails through keywords.
Play
with it until you become comfortable, and you will find you use it more
than
the actual menu itself.
Happy New Year,
Melissa

Don't dismiss that search box either. You can just start typing the name
of a program and it will find it. So, if you want the calculator, just
type calc, and poof, it is there. Faster than going through the start
menu. Takes some getting used to, and doesn't give you a real feel for
everything that is there, but there are ways to do that as well.
